Communication Board
A communication board is a sheet that displays images, pictures, or symbols of commonly used words. Communication boards can be used by nonverbal people to express their wants and needs with others. The Bennett’s Village Communication Board contains words tailored to play and playground activities in order to make the playspace more accessible for our nonverbal community members.

How to Use Our Communication Board
- Encourage your partner in play to use the board. Look at the pictures, touch the board or say the words – it’s all communication!
- Use the board yourself to show how! Ask questions, “What do you want to play?” Point to pictures on the board to make suggestions or provide choices.
- Return to the board and keep playing and communicating during your visit to Bennett’s Village!
