Volunteer Recruitment and Rock Snake Creation Event

Want to learn a bit more about Bennett's Village and how you can get involved? Come to our volunteer recruitment event on Saturday, August 3rd from 10-noon at Pen Park. We'll have committee and Bennett's Village Board members available to tell you a bit about our volunteer opportunities. We'll also have a craft event for kids and parents alike-- painting the rocks for the rock snake that will live and grow at the Bennett's Village play space.  And you can check out the progress on the treehouse construction and learn about what comes next!

Fridays After Five Volunteer Opportunity- August 30

For spring and summer events, Ting Pavilion partners with non-profits in order to fundraise for their organization. Bennett’s Village will provide volunteers for Fridays After Five on August 30, 2024. In exchange for your volunteering, Bennett’s Village will receive an hourly rate per volunteer as well as all the tips from the night (which can be either cash or Venmo). Film Screening presented by VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment

On October 1 at 6:30pm, VIA Centers for Neurodevelopment will be hosting a free screening of the documentary In a Different Key at the Paramount Theater. The documentary follows the story of a mother who tracks down the first person ever diagnosed with autism, now an elderly man in rural Mississippi, to learn if his life story holds promise for her own autistic son. Treehouse Tales

Join students from the UVA School of Education and Human Development on October 30 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm at the Bennett's Village Treehouse as they share favorite Fall stories like Pete the Cat Falling for Autumn and Room on the Broom. Children of all ages and abilities can get involved for this fun afternoon of storytelling with adaptations such as easy page turners puppets spinner games communication supports Stories in Braille and Spanish will be available.

Botanical Garden of the Piedmont Fairy House Building/Fall Festival

Bennett's Village will be hosting a craft activity at the Botanical Garden of the Piedmont’s Fall Festival on Saturday, November 2nd from 10am to 12pm. Volunteers will assist participants with building their own accessible fairy houses using natural materials (stay tuned for a call for acorns, twigs, pinecones, and other materials used to make the houses).
